Potting technology for medical wearables

Diabetes affects many millions of people worldwide. New technology for real-time glucose measurement replaces the usual unpleasant pricking of a finger: a sensor located in the subcutaneous tissue of the diabetes patient measures the glucose values and transmits them to a receiver.

Production of such medical wearables calls for high-precision dispensing systems for applying very small amounts of UV adhesives to medical PCBs and for integrated system concepts to achieve this. A perfect task for Scheugenpflug. Read more in the following technical report.

Vacuum potting:
Sustainable protection of electronics

Why vacuum potting? Complex components with difficult-to-vent geometries are often susceptible to air bubbles during the potting process. Edges, corners and undercuts can lead to cavities where air bubbles can accumulate. Air and moisture are removed from the components by vacuum to ensure even and bubble-free distribution of the potting material. This ensures that electronic components perform reliably throughout their lifecycle.
